I had a really frustrating experience at the Thornbury Post Office regarding vehicle tax.
Before going, I checked online and confirmed that this branch offers vehicle tax services. I’ve also personally taxed my car there before, and even had my licence sorted there recently, so I know they provide these services.
However, when I went in, the staff member at the counter refused to even attempt to process my vehicle tax. He told me I’d have to go to Alveston instead. I made the trip over there, only to be told that Thornbury is actually the main branch that handles vehicle tax in the area.
This left me completely stuck. I now can’t use my car this weekend, which has cost me money on lifts to get to training and races. It’s incredibly frustrating when you make the effort to check everything in advance, only to be turned away for no valid reason.
I don’t mind if there’s a genuine issue or system problem, but in this case it felt like the staff member simply didn’t want to deal with it. At the very least, I would expect them to try or give a proper explanation rather than sending customers elsewhere incorrectly.
Really disappointing experience and poor customer service.

Great service and friendly staff who couldn't do more to help you. Much better running since the coop took it over a few years ago.
